Millions of Americans suffer from the same symptoms. In some cases, this pain is due to Temporomandibular Dysfunction, or TMD.

What is TMD?

Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD) is a diagnosable disorder affecting your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) which connect your lower jawbone to your skull. These joints get a lot of use throughout the day as you speak, chew, swallow, and yawn. A change in the alignment of top and bottom teeth which can cause pain, inflammation and even damage in and around these joints which maybe unpleasant and even restrict movement.

Symptoms of TMD include:

  • Pain in the jaw area
  • Facial pain
  • Clicking or popping sound when the jaw moves
  • Pain chewing
  • Frequent headaches or neck aches
  • Swelling on the sides of the face
  • Locked jaw or limited opening of the mouth
  • Pain, ringing, or stuffiness in the ears
